Description: Genes,
Environment, and Human Behavior is a module developed by
BSCS to help implement lessons covering non-Mendelian
genetics and the role of the environment in the
classroom. It consists of exemplary background material
and five student activities. These activities vary in
length of time required and could be used independently.
Reviewer Comments:
“I particularly like the fact that the
module clearly demonstrated that heredity is not precise
and science involves a lot of analysis and
interpretation.”
“This module looks at many
misconceptions that students have about genetics and
inheritance – single gene traits and the role of
genetics in determining behavior. It also looks at the
ethics involved in making decisions around appropriate
use of scientific information as well as issues of good
of whole versus rights of individuals.”
